Mike Higgins founded Leland City Club, originally called "Liedernacht" in 1983. The club has undergone several transformations over the years, evolving from a luxurious ballroom with a history of hosting casino nights and banquets to an alternative gothic club. The club's walls are now adorned with murals, painted black, and it has a diverse musical history. The dimly lit dance floor in the front room is ideal for dancing and socializing, while the larger back room, complete with a massive Nexo Alpha sound system, is used for more significant events.
Over the past 40 years, Leland City Club has hosted several renowned musicians, including Skinny Puppy, Depeche Mode, the Beastie Boys, Smashing Pumpkins, Public Enemy, Rob Zombie, the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Nine Inch Nails, and Marilyn Manson. It’s renowned these days for its diverse electronic music offerings, ranging from techno and house to goth-themed party nights, and a multitude of other shows.
